Anchored to the Rock, Geared Towards the Times - Minta Buse

A few weeks ago, I was able to get away for 8 days to go on a road trip around the Southwest with a few friends and my sister on a much needed vacation. On this trip, we were able to visit some of the most amazing and ancient rock formations I have ever seen in my life! From the rolling flats of Death Valley to the spiraling hoodoos in Bryce Canyon to the heart dropping depth of the Grand Canyon, the evidence of God's steadfastness, creativity, and power were so evident!

This has been a year full of unforeseen and unique challenges in our daily lives and in ministry. And yet, as I visited these places, I couldn't help but reflect upon the following words from the Scriptures:

"The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.- Psalm 18:2

"'Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,' says the LORD, who has compassion on you.- Isaiah 54:12

Jesus replied, "Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done." - Matthew 21:21

"Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.- Psalm 90:2

As we wind down this year and enter into the holiday season, may we be reminded of these truths and not miss that no matter how crazy everything seems. God is still our strength and hope. Our faith in Him is not in vain, but full of power!
