Vasti’s Prayer Update - February 2020

God has used situations and people in my life to remind me of a powerful truth: my performance does not determine Jesus’ love for me! Our world has perfected the art of performance-based love. It is exhausting to feel like you’re only valuable for what you bring and not for who you are - a child of God! You are loved by God and me!

I did my best to be intentional with students this month to remind them of the great love that the Lord has for them. For the first time, I invited students over to my home for a special dinner. I prayed for this moment! My introverted self, appreciates a quite home. I am happy that I obeyed because deep conversations about God's love happened around my dinner table.I believe my relationship with the girls became stronger! I am grateful for the way that His love transforms lives!

I celebrate the commitment, growth, and perseverance of our student leaders and intern, Liz. They show up every Tuesday and see their best selves. They do a lot of the behind the scenes work to bring creativity, fun, and enthusiasm to the group.

Our student of the month is Angeles. I met her through City Life as a sophomore and her desire to know Jesus really stood out to me. I have seen the most growth in Angeles since. I love seeing her shine in confidence. Every Tuesday on our ride home she will say, “Real talk, I see God in my life. I never thought I would have a family of faith.” I always walk away feeling encouraged!

  • Pray for leaders and students as we encounter Jesus in the mountains this weekend.
  • Pray for our guest speakers during the month of March. They will be sharing about who they have become through loving Jesus and people.

  • I am THANKFUL for Kate Jesse and her small group who will be providing a meal once a month!
  • I am THANKFUL for YOU! Your affirming words challenge me to be receptive and make them mine.
